GH Fan Club Weekend: The Past Cast of GH and PC!

by Dawn

I was happily typing away, giving my entertaining recount of this event, when I was suddenly greeted with a blank screen. I realize much to my frustration that I had become a victim of the Microsoft Monster - which ate my entire article in one gulp - and we're going to have to start all over again. The Past Cast event is event number four during a very busy day, but it's the one event I was really riled up about. Just who was going to walk through that door was anyone's guess. We had a list of former cast members that were planning to attend and now, looking back, I realize that list was merely an appetizer, as there were plenty of surprises in store both in the green room at and the event itself.

The first person caught in my tractor beam was John Reilly, who not only played Sean Donnelly, but who also just wrapped up his turn as Alistair on Passions. I bolted for him immediately, introduce myself and admit that I watched him as the dastardly Mr. Crane, which he seemed surprised to hear. "I didn't think anyone watched that show," he jokes, then turns to Peter Hansen (Lee Baldwin) and introduces me to him. Hello, Mr. Hansen, I say, like the good little girl I was brought up as. "Oh please, call me Peter." Peter and John are enjoying drinks and catching up on old times, so I leave them and turn my personal radar up to it's highest setting so I don't miss anything.

Of course, Brian Gaskill, the angelic Rafe from Port Charles, is armed with a video camera and announces his plans to place his home movie on YouTube. When Brian phoned in his "rescue me" request to his adorable manager, Marie and the ladies of Soaptown prior to the event, I offered to fetch our darling blond hunk and bring him henceforth. After walking what had to be at least twenty-six blocks (and unable to locate Brian although I did find our former Manny, Robert Lasardo), I call the hotel room, only to be greeted on the phone by the giggling Mr. Gaskill. Oh he simply must die, I think to myself. That did not happen of course, because I was too taken aback at how awesome Brian is looking these days! He is desperately missed on daytime - get this man back on a soap! And if you haven't seen his video, stop what you are doing and please watch it at this time. It's funny and cute and a great recap of the event from the actor's perspective. "I was never on General Hospital," Brian confesses to the camera at one point.

Lindze Letherman (Georgie) arrives, looking smashing as usual and tells us that she has been spending her post-GH time attending school and "hanging out." Her new hairstyle is very flattering and she was all smiles and sunshine. I meet up with Kiko Ellsworth (Stan and ex-Jamal, PC) who stunned me when he said, "Oh we've met before. I know about Soaptown!" Uh, uh, uh.... Wracking my brain trying to recall my last encounter with this fabulous fella and realize that it was in 2003! What a memory. I'll have what he's having. Kiko and his fiancé' Christine (our dear, departed Leticia) are partaking in the delicious selection of munchables being presented to the actors by various wait staff.

So I'm walking around and talking with this person and that person, when suddenly, a tall hunk of ravishing man walks in the door, shades in place. We're staring, oh yes we are. The shades come off and I realize we're in the presence of Bradley Lockerman (Casey), who looked so breathtakingly divine that I hereby demand a federal investigation as to why he is not currently on a soap. Okay, so it took me a few minutes to remember the last name of the lovely face before us but I chalk it up to being entirely too dazzled by his beauty. Only one word fits, ladies and that word is WOW. We're STILL staring as Bradley saunters over to say hello to his former cast mates.

And speaking of beautifulness, someone was about to make my entire day. My week. My year. "Someone just walked in the door," Boss Lady tells me. Heh? What? Who? OH!! It's Jon Lindstrom (Kevin)! I quickly make a mental note of the location of my tape recorder - not to catch Jon in a quick interview but to make a recorded version of my last will and testament. I was sure I was about to fall over. I jump right in and tell Jon that I'm Dawn from Virginia. Oh yeah! Jon says. So.... I'm surprised to see you here, I manage to say in understandable English. He tells me he can only stay for about forty-five minutes. I send Jon over to the Table of Daytime Kings, which including John, Peter and Ian Buchanan (Duke and ex-Joshua, PC) and wonder if leaving my asthma inhaler at home was such a good idea. I admit it. I turned into a goony fangurl. I will not apologize for it. I've been a fan of Jon's for over two decades and that's all there is to it. I thought I handled my initial meeting with him pretty well but after a while, I was making NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. Don't make me medicate you, Boss Lady jokes. I've spoken to Jon on the phone and even did an internet radio show with him - what the hell was wrong with me? Hello?? I'd never met him in person. I was a goner, no two ways about it. I throw myself on the mercy of Debbie Morris and ask if I can be Jon's escort. Sure, she says, humoring the pile of mush at her feet.

In all seriousness though, I actually had a great chat with Jon and was thrilled that my twenty-something year wait to meet him had finally come to an end. My Jon-daze temporarily dissipates when Jason Gerhardt (Coop) arrives. My baby! Now when you see Jason, you really have to fight the urge to hug him close and/or smother his precious face with kisses because he's that darling. I make my way over to him and profusely apologize to the beautiful child for not being able to attend his event that he had so generously invited me to, which was held the night before. He was very sympathetic to the plight I had found myself in that night and I admit, I was relieved when he came through the door. I really wanted to go to his event and yes, I was plain upset about the fact that it didn't happen. As silly as it may sound, I felt like I was letting him down somehow. I also managed to make it through the conversation without giving in to my impulse to pull him into a comforting maternal clinch. I later mentioned to some Jason fans that I couldn't decide whether to marry Jason or adopt him.

Jon is sent out early before the actors are even lined up because he has to bounce over to the Lost Studio in Hollywood, where he's appearing on stage in "In Heat." I go out too and am proud that the fans reacted so enthusiastically to him. He apologized for not being able to stay and also sent warm regards from Lynn Herring (Lucy) who was unable to attend. One fan mentioned that Kelly Monaco really wanted Jon back on the show as Sam's father (I'll sign off on that one!) and Jon was touched to hear this. After a few more questions and an update on himself, a few stops for fan photos and a couple of goodbyes in the green room, I escort Jon back to his car and tell him that had we thought of it sooner, we could've tied his play appearance into the weekend's events somehow. Perhaps next time?

Brian is still sporting aforementioned camera and absolutely no one is safe. He got everyone on camera, even me, and also caught a hopelessly adorable Chad Brannon (Zander) who I was actually unable to get a personal audience with, but it's all good. Brian actually managed to do much of our work for us, just kidding of course. It's about that time, though. Time to stun the room full of fans, who pretty much had no idea just who they were about to see! This was must-watch moments, much of which our Bri caught on tape. "Where you really an alien?" Brian inquires of Bradley, who replies, "I still am!"

After the introductions were made, paramedics were put on standby (just kidding, although the thought probably did occur to some of us) and we realized we had a packed house of fans in a completely legitimate swoon, the flabbergasting line-up of former GH'ers and ex-PC'ers each take turns filling the fans in on their lives after Port Chuck. I'm running in and out at this point and did not hear a lot of what was said, but I could hear the cheery Chad Brannonites in the next area code. Soon the actors are moved to their autograph tables and I approach the event staff and offer my assistance. I'm soon pressed into service as the security escort for one Mr. John Reilly. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun that was. I could not resist giving John good-natured hell about his role on Passions. Did I tell the fans to smile before taking their picture? No, I said things like, "say Alistair! Say Harmony!" I'm hoping at this point that the people in John's line were having the same blast of a good time that I was having! John and I traded zingers and jokes the entire time and the laughter was non stop. Not to mention the fact that the fans had far nicer cameras than me - I think I got a load of every camera on the market, actually.

To my surprise, Tristan Rogers (Robert) arrives and is placed at the next table. He has a security guard watching over him but darling, I sure could use some help managing his line as well. So for a good hour or so, I'm running the autograph lines for both John and Tristan, with somebody's camera in each hand. It takes talent to multi-task like that, let me tell you, but the lines for both actors were getting longer by the minute. I send out an SOS or two and was about to resort to smoke signals when our photog, Becky, happened by. HELP!! She graciously jumps right in and takes over the management of Tristan's line, and I am able to return my full attention to the John Reilly troops. Soon Tristan is whisked away for another engagement and next to him is the stunning Robert Lasardo (Manny/Father Mateo), who was all smiles and sexiness. I'm still joking around with the fans in John's line and taking photos for them, and I yell to a staffer that I need water, which was brought and given to John. Oh darn, now what? I see Mr. Lasardo has since departed so I, without shame and without regret, walk over to his table and snatch up that ice cold bottle of water he left behind and proceed to gulp it down - I was that desperate.

John Reilly has well and truly worn me out but boy did I enjoy every second of it! When it's time for him to depart, I'm rewarded with a big hug and a kiss. I catch my breath, step into my "office" to smoke like a diesel, and return to take in the other happenings before I have to head over to Tyler Christopher's event. I see Cyndy Preston (Faith), who is about the most wonderful woman on the planet, but time was not on my side and I was unable to get in a moment with her. I realize it's time for the date with Tyler so I stand patiently behind Brian Gaskill, waiting for a chance to say goodbye to him. He and the rest of the posse were going to dinner and he would be leaving soon after that. "Are you Brian's escort?" someone asks me. "No, I'm a friend," I admit proudly. I give Brian a goodbye hug, seriously wishing we and his fans could see far more of him, and then off I go, to Tyler Christopher!

Three cheers for Debbie Morris who always has a way to keep the fans hopping. Only goes to show why the GH weekend is always sold out and on the top of my list. I can't wait to see what Debbie has in store for next year, I ready to book my flight today!
