VIEW FROM THE VALLEY
Welcome
Home….

Finally one
mistake TPTB made has been remedied (or at least somewhat) as Julia
Barr returns to All My Children as Brooke English, for a short run
that is.

I always enjoy homecomings. Whether it is a high school, college or a church
related homecoming it is always nice to reconnect with old friends and figure
out just what exactly they have been up to since the last time you spoke.
That
is the reason why I always enjoy it when our favorite daytime shows
bring back popular and well loved characters. So I am sure that you
could imagine my excitement when news finally broke that Julia Barr
would indeed be back for a short term run as our beloved Brooke
English.
I never fully
understood why TPTB never chose to showcase the talent’s of Ms.
Barr. She has proven herself time and time again that she is worthy
of ANY storyline that they decide to write and throw her way. At the
time of her dismissal, they had just begun to explore the
possibilities of a Brooke and Adam reunion. Much to my dismay (and
the dismay of fans) that was halted when the show released Ms. Barr
from her contract (all because she refused to go recurring) and the
character of Brooke just faded off our screens.
I LOVE how Brooke
is back and better than ever and to incorporate her into the current
Chandler storyline is genius if you ask me. Not only does Brooke
share a connection with Adam, but she also shares a connection with
his son JR as well.
I’ve been very
impressed with the caliber of acting that Jacob Young has put forth
during the “JR Cancer storyline,” but have felt one of the things
missing is his mother. I know Brooke is not and never will be Dixie,
but Brooke may just be the closest thing to a mother that JR could
have in his life especially right now.
From the recent
previews ABC has been airing, something tells me that JR may just
ask Brooke to look after his family, when and if he meets his
demise. How poignant and touching would it be for Brooke to agree to
look after Adam, Colby, Little A, Scott and even Marissa for
JR? Brooke has always been a woman who kept her promise and this
promise might just be the one thing that could keep Julia Barr
around Pine Valley for a little while longer.
However,
something tells me that JR will end up surviving (thanks in part to
his current step-monster Annie), so my question is where does that
leave Brooke? With the recent announcement that David Canary would
be leaving the role of Adam Chandler, something tells me that a
Brooke/Adam reunion is on the horizon.
Personally, I’ve
always liked Brooke and Adam together and the two characters do
share a history and I think are each other’s soul mates. Perhaps one
of JR’s “deathbed wishes” is to have Adam and Brooke agree to
remarry. While both of them do so for JR (with plans to divorce
later), they begin to realize that the feelings they once shared for
one another are indeed still there and have been there for quite
sometime.
Adam and Brooke
could then remarry in an elaborate ceremony at the Chandler mansion
with all of Pine Valley in attendance (and even a few barbs being
thrown between Erica and Brooke for old times sake), and then leave
on their honeymoon around the world. This way the door would ALWAYS
be open for one or both characters to return on a contract or
recurring basis or even just for a visit.
Ahhh yes……happy
endings to this homecoming. Unfortunately, I think these two may
have their share of bumps in the road during their reconciliation
(if it does indeed happen). One of the biggest bumps goes by the
name Annie McDermott Lavery Chandler.
I am loving how
the show is setting up a feud between Brooke and Annie and hope that
Annie will soon (and quickly) learn that she is no match for Brooke
English. What a nice historical reference the show has done by
reviving Tempo the magazine that Brooke used to run and Adam
has appointed to run once again. I could see the entertaining scenes
that would occur if Annie had to deal with if Brooke was her boss!!
Of course, now that Adam is the money behind the magazine it does
mean that he and Brooke could be spending a lot of time with one
another adding even more fuel to Annie’s fire.
I’m glad to see
Brooke English back on the show, I just hope that our new writers
will address where Brooke has been over the last few years. Maybe
she has been on an investigative assignment and will soon reveal it
all in an edition of Tempo. Could this revelation bring
danger to Pine Valley and perhaps visits from former characters?
And if it did,
would Adam be the one who saves Brooke’s life and win her heart in
the end? Ahhh one can only hope…..
Are you glad that
Julia Barr is back on the show? What do you hope is in store for
Brooke? Could a Brooke/Adam reunion be far behind? Click on the
