Everybody has questions. I have questions. I may even have some
answers lying around here somewhere. But one question I want to
address right off the bat is one that I get quite often: Why are my
columns updated a little later than everyone else's? Well kittens,
it's simple really. It's because of my work schedule. Most folks
have Saturday and Sunday off; for me, my "weekend" actually falls on
Monday and Tuesday. So while everyone else is back to their work
week grind, I'm actually able to kick it and write some articles and
here I am. Again, pay no mind to run on sentences and words spelled
incorrectly. I'm still stuck with that splint on my finger for
another two weeks but I've since managed to master the fine art of
typing with that thing in the way. The backspace key doesn't get
used nearly as much.
Here are one or two inquiries floating around in my head...
Am I the only one that thinks Karpov is not nearly as creepy as
he wants us to think? He doesn't look like a drug-smuggling
mobster - he looks like my tenth grade history teacher. Nope,
nothing threatening about this guy, even when he's issuing threats.
Is it just me? Jerry is creepy - and good-looking. Anthony can still
startle the hell out of me. Trevor is creepy, not to mention really
slimy. Karpov? He gets an A for effort but me thinks we could use
some more bang for our buck here. Don't just say the menacing words,
show us just how dangerous you can really be. Otherwise I'm almost
forced to hit the snooze bar. Okay, let's stop mincing words and
just put this in plain English: Fire up the acting jets a little
bit.
Despite the similarities, who thinks Julie Marie Berman (Lulu) is
running with this story? Berman has been impressing me, make no
mistake. And I think it's only going to get better once the GODDESS
graces our screens. Lulu is a woman who is so fearful that she is
losing her mind that it's actually beginning to happen and Berman is
rocking the joint. Like Laura before her, she is starting to close
up because she blames herself for Logan's death, despite the fact
that Logan had gone completely mental and most certainly warranted
an attack. I won't get into the fact that had they leveled with the
police from the get-go, she would not be in the trouble that she's
in now. I also won't touch on how foolish and ill-advised it was for
Johnny to bust out of the police station with Lulu as his hostage.
Oh well is a deep subject. I think the show wanted to draw those
similarities between Lulu and her mother but let's not parallel
every single aspect of Laura's story, otherwise we'll think we're
watching a re-run. But either way you look at it, Berman has been
incredible.
Does Nikolas kick ass or what? After dealing with the likes
of Helena, what chance does Anthony have? Nikolas puts plans in
place to have Lulu and Johnny spirited away to safety and Anthony
insists that his son remain with him. Despite all his protesting,
orders and threats, Nikolas did not back down. I'm doing it and it's
being done and I don't care what you think, Nikolas essentially
tells Anthony, who looked surprised that there was actually a person
roaming this planet who is not afraid of him. Go ahead with your bad
self, Mr. Cassidine. And after kicking everyone else's ass, you can
go back to kicking your own, for one, pining for a woman who will
never return to you, and two, not seeing the romantic possibilities
right in front of your beautiful face, i.e., Nadine and/or Claudia.
Once again, why is Jerry still walking around? No need to
list his past misdeeds as Mr. Craig because we are well aware of
them. But then he gutted Claudia and tossed her into the drink, then
just last week, he was ready to punch Jason and anyone with him full
of holes. He is in it up to here with the drug smuggling. And he's
not only walking free, he's still in one piece. I think it's high
time some of his shenanigans come back to bite him big time. While a
romance with Alexis is being touched on more and more, it's not
working for me because this cat is showing no indication of trying
to redeem himself. If anything, he's drawing himself in further and
further into sinistry. I don't get it. I still don't get it.
And now for some of your questions...
Is Robert Scorpio being killed off? God I hope not, how dumb
would that be? Of course this show has a history of disposing of
it's legacy characters without so much as a second thought - what do
I know?
Is Audrey being killed off? I heard this one a long time ago
and what I really wanted to see was the hospital throw her a
retirement shindig after Rachel Ames announced her retirement. After
all, Ames was an original member of your cast. But she disappeared
without nary a mention and that's no way to treat a lady, especially
this one. Killing her off? Like I said already, God I hope not, how
dumb would that be?
Is Michael coming back? By all indications I would say no, at
least not in the form of Dylan Cash. But this could very well
change. I wouldn't mind seeing a SORAS'ed Michael as a moody,
brooding teenager, then Carly could have her own version of Johnny
for a son.
Are Ric's days numbered? I hope not but I don't know for
sure. Yes, Ric drives me bananas sometimes but Rick Hearst is a
complete angel and I'd hate to see him dumped by the show simply
because they can't seem to come up with story for him. How hard can
that be, considering the overwhelming complexity of the character?
Hearst's contract is up very shortly and I can actually see him
moving on, although I don't want it to happen.
Who is playing Karpov's blonde lawyer? That's Sandra Hess,
who has made numerous appearances on many prime time shows and
films, but the role I vividly recall is Hess as Sonya Blade in
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation - know that she too can kick some
ass, acting and otherwise. Don't believe me? Check out the
Sonya/Cyrax fight scene.
Will the Skate wedding take place? Do weddings actually
happen on this show? Think back and count, then do the discouraging
math.
